Formerly known as National Starch and Chemical Co. (changed 10/23/08), also known as ICI/Glidden. Akzo Nobel is a manufacturer of chemical bonding agents (polymers) for personal care items. (Example: hair spray, lotions, shampoos & sunscreen polymers.) Glidden products are not manufactured in Rowan County but the products by Akzo Nobel are used on cruise ships, space shuttle (aerospace), race cars, aluminun cans, etc.
